Now You're Ready To Take Your
Gypsy Jazz Guitar Skills To The Next Level
And Expand Your Growing Repertouir With These Eleven Classic Gypsy Jazz Tunes

Hey, Robin here,

The way I look at it, Volume 4 of my Gypsy Jazz Songbook series steps things up a notch. A lot of people tell me the same thing. There’s a bunch of great stuff going on in this one, so check it out.

Solo like Django?
First off, I've included one of Django's most famous solo's note for note – “I'll See You In My Dreams”. Some guys buy the book for this aspect alone.

Give a listen to my take on "I'll See You In My Dreams". This is from my Live at Samois CD.

Now get ready to play this tune yourself! - Django's take on this classic old song has become one of the true tests of a gypsy guitarist’s ability in our community. In this book I've tabbed it out just as Django played it. And you’ll hear it as well on the play-along CD. This tune is always a blast to play live. The changes are challenging but it swings like nothing else.

4 Styles of Rhythm
Also, in response to many requests, I’ve included four examples of unique gypsy rhythm styles. I've broken them down for you and clearly written them out and recorded them on the CD at a slow and easy pace so you can hear what's going on, pick them up quickly, and integrate them into your playing.

I’ll show you:

From the basic 'gypsy swing' to the more advanced techniques of 'doubling up' and 'rhythm accenting' I’ll guide you step by step and reveal some of Django’s tricks along the way.

The Tunes
I’ve packed some great ones into this volume. We’ve got some of the American songbooks most popular standards such as “Night And Day” & “Limehouse Blues”.

Also, the correct changes and melodies for 2 of Django's most famous and beautiful ballads “Tears” and “Anouman”. I remember when I first learned these how exciting it was to add them to my repertoire. They were a challenge to master but when used at the right moment on a gig they were lethal tear jerkers!

Another ‘power ballad’, “Melodie Au Crepescule” (Twilights Melody) always reminds me of Samois Sur Seine where we all gather every year to celebrate our hero. If you've ever been to Django’s final resting place on the banks of the river Seine at Samois, at twilight then you’ll know what he meant with this tune. It's a real killer of a tune and has some pretty complex changes which again I’ve laid out in the most clear and logical way so as to let everyone in on this amazing melody.

Here's the full list of tunes you'll master with this volume:

Rare Django Performance - J'attendrai

J'attendrai was the tune that all the gypsies started playing after this amazing film footage of Django and Stephane was unearthed. To see the master playing in real time was a revelation and inspired us all. I felt this tune had to be included in Book 4 and again – with both the melody and chords clearly written so we could all play it.

What You'll Get When You Order
Overall, this volume represents some of Reinhardt's most classic versions of standard tunes, and some of his most powerful compositions.

Along with the book, I'll send you a "play along" CD containing backing tracks for all eleven songs played at various tempos. This is like having me and my band in the room with you while your practicing. Jam along with these tracks as you build up your skills and you will certainly master these tunes. Students tell me all the time that these backing tracks are a major key to their success. In fact, I often use them myself to get warmed up before a gig.

As with my whole Gypsy Jazz Songbook series, my aim with this volume is to take you straight to the music - no middle man - from me to you! Just like the gypsies do it!

Check Out What Other Guitarists Using My System Have To Say

"The greatest thing is to have the Play-along MP3 to play with. You get the feel of actually playing with a group."

Chuck Buchanan, United States

"The results from your books have been inspiring. This is a great way to learn by playing and the CD's are great . Your materials are excellent and your new solos volume is a good way to go as the ony frustrating thing about your materials is that they are so effective that I get frustrated that I cannot move on to expand the melody into chromatic runs and start to learn the vocabulary needed to develop soloing skills. Sorry to go on but you did ask!"

Rod Buckle, United Kingdom

"From learning how to play gypsy jazz from your books, I have also learned a great deal about playing with other people, it has given me confidence to play solid rhythm and melodies and learn how to solo. Without your books, my quest to learn gypsy jazz and become a fine musician would be less evolved"

Brandon Raby, United States

"I use many of your resources on a daily basis. The backing tracks are excellent and the Gig book is a fantastic reference. I'm on my own where I live as far as gypsy players are concerned so these resources are invaluable."

Robert Stephen, United Kingdom

"I have found the Robin Nolan system easy to understand and very enjoyable to implement. The chord changes are straightforward, with a bit of practice and the tablature makes the melodies easy to learn. A great product, wholeheartedly recommended to anyone interested in Gypsy Jazz."

Neil Marcer, United Kingdom

"I have found the backing tracks generous in giving me, as a developing gypsy improviser, ample time to discover what it takes to learn this style. I appreciate the format of the jam tracks in several excellent ways: How to correctly interpret the melody - how to generate a convincing swing - and how to assimilate my chops in an actual gypsy ensemble...over and over again."

Jeff Taylor, United States

"Truly, if it were not for your books AND CD's, I would not be playing Gypsy Jazz Guitar or any other Guitar other than First position, self taught Chord accompaniment. Same goes for my wife!"

Dennis Blasdell, United States

"What I would say is that the approach taken in the books is an unqualified success for me personally. Not only is it easy to pick-up and instantly tangible by having the backing tracks to work with but it has also educated me musically more in one year than the previous 25. I play rhythm for a lead guitarist doing standards who rarely lets me solo due to my shortcomings. Since practicing the lead licks book every day my solo work is beginning to come together such that some of my efforts are very nearly complimented. For a non-reader of music it’s been a real boon and it helps you play better rhythm, better lead, hear the changes and feel the swing. This feeds you in other styles of music you play and the benefits are not confined to gypsy jazz. If you want to give us more Robin then bring it on."

Russell Pay, United Kingdom

"Allow me.......... Robin Nolan is the primo GJG (Gypsy Jazz Guitar) teacher. He's been doing this before anyone else, plus he makes it simple for the absolute beginner. Robin is THE source!"

Don Price, United States

"Hi Robin, I've been playing guitar for 20+ years and gypsy jazz for a few. When I started to play gypsy style guitar, your books and CDs were invaluable as an introduction to the style. I have since attended a couple of your workshops, and they are great. I congratulate you on your continued development of teaching materials! I wish you nothing but success as a musician and an educator."
